Throughout my life, I have been aware of the profound influence that physical movement has on our overall well-being. How engaging in physical activity can bolster our resilience against stress, promote restful sleep, and uplift our spirits.
My passion led me into a career as a Physical Education Teacher, and later to become a part-time Pilates and Yoga practitioner. It was in my Pilates training I began learning about the mind-body connection and its importance. Yoga training brought about further learning in this area. I was then introduced to the works of Bessel van der Kolk(Psychiatrist and author) and Dave Emerson (author and co-founder/director, Centre for Trauma and Embodiment) by a close friend who was for their own reasons exploring their work and research. Their published research heightened my awareness of the immense healing potential that lies within the movement, present moment experience and noticing our internal experience. TCTSY methodologies inspired me to extend my journey into entering and completing their training program in trauma-informed movement with the Centre for Trauma and Embodiment at the Justice Research Institute.
